There should be a sticker in your glove box that shows the gear ratio. It may also tell you if you have a limited slip diff or not also. If you still have it, all that info will be on the original window sticker too.

It should be on the underneath side of the hood. Also on the differentials themselves.

If worse comes to worse, you can get your DC dealer to print you a line setting ticket at the parts counter for free. They'll need your Vin. It will show what came from the factory

If all else fails jack up the rearend and mark the tire to a specific place, mark the driveshaft at a reference point as well. 4.1 turns of driveshaft per 1 turn of wheel= 4.10 3.5 turns of driveshaft per 1 turn of wheel= 3.55. If one side jacked up won't turn and both sides have to be off ground LSD rearend. PK

Is there a way to tell if you have a limited slip?

With both wheels off the ground turn one and the other will go the same direction, no LSD they will turn opposite directions when turned. PK

Nimrod,
I think all the 03's and 04's have 3.73 rear ends. In 03 Dodge went away from the Dana differentials to a differential that Dodge produces. From all accounts the new rear ends and front differentials are holding up fine. I think 3.73 is correct.

To tell what rear end you have, first set up two mirrors. Stand in between and look closely. This is subject to personal taste.

For a subjective perspective, post picture on rate_my_rear_dot_com.

Howdy,
Yep you are right, in the glove box there is a list of gear ratios. My truck has a 3.73 rear gear ratio. Well now I can sleep at night and I know the truck will drive better kinda like it does after I wash it. This is a ratio that seems to work all around. I wonder what my 93 Dodge had because it always seemed to be perfect for towing a big load and got incredible fuel econo. Put new sheepskin seat covers on her that I got for Christmas from my Wife. Now the cloth is protected and it is sooo comfy.
Thanks for your help on my rear end.
