HO or Not?
HO or Not?
I just purchased my first CTD a week ago. The dealership told me it has the HO Cummins Engine but I dont know how to tell the diff. Its a 2001 2500 4x4, Quadcab, Long bed w/Auto and 4.10 axles. I couldnt find the catalyst under the hood. Is there a number/letter in the VIN that designates this? Thanks in advance.

Fairly simple...
If I'm not mistaken the engine tag (on the gear case on driver side) will show horsepower rating.
235 HP is a SO engine
245 HP is a HO engine
Another way to tell... (Manual trans)
5 Speeds - SO Engine
6 Speeds - HO Engine
I hope this helps...

The SO/HO differences aren't even enough to worry about though. You may even end up more satidfied down the road that you got the Standard Output.
Although I would have rather bought a manual trans, I have never been disappointed that I don't own an HO.
