That's what I have seen on some with mechanical gauges added. Usually, from what I was told, NEVER under 40 psi??

Copied from service manual:
Engine Oil Pressure (MIN)
At Idle 103.4 kPa (15 psi)
At 2000 rpm 310.2 kPa (45 psi)

This is when warm

I was seeing about 17-18psi when hot at idle. 45-50psi at 2000RPM sounds right but I would have to check to be sure... On cool start (40ish*) I was seeing 60-65psi at 2000RPM and 40ish at idle

Check with Big Blue. He has a permanent mechanical gauge. Maybe was 60 at start up (cold) but my memory seems to remember seeing 80??

Not important....you were within specs....right?

May do that, but I'm too worried about it... I'm measuring behind the IP for my temp gauge.. Not sure where in the line that is as far as fluid delivery, but from what I have read the filter reads the highest. According to Cummins I'm in spec, fine with me...

On another note:
Was scary to see how much slower my mechanical gauge (1/4" line straight, no needle valve) showed pressure vs. the factory!! motor sits at 0 on startup a lot longer than I'd like to see 2-5sec maybe??

From what I heard, the gauges used to be pretty accurate in the older models, but chrysler had to many customers bringing their trucks in cause the gauge would fluctuate so much, so in the later models, they made the gauges less sensitive, I guess maybe almost to the point that you might as well have an "idiot" light. Atleast thats what I was told by someone anyways.
