help it won't start??????

Hi Guys

My 2001 ( Rampuller mentioned this in last post) 24 Has a problem. I lost the oil pressure so I started trying to find the sensor.( I have since found it)

Now The map sensor got unpluged and I started the truck. It would start but the check engine was on ( wait to start light works okay) but I have no gauage function and the engine goes to high idle mode. I depress the throttle and the engine speed drops and the truck appears to miss. The truck will not rev up ( tach not working so I have no idle speed)
I plug the map sensor in and the check engine light goes off but when I Try to start it just turns over and over. ( the wait to start light flashes when the key is on)

One other thing is that none of the gauges work at any time and the oil pressure is way to high when the truck is running
I think I need to reset the computer. How can I do this? Is it just stuck in limp mode?

2000 ctd 24 valve 5 spd

Thanks

Re:help it won't start??????

I suggest you try resetting the APPS. The procedure is in the tech section.
http://www.dodge-diesel.org/faq/faq....p;onlynewfaq=1

When unhooking the battery, you might want to leave it unhooked for an hour, and leave somehting on, such as ignition to drain caps in the system.

The unhooking of the battery may also clear some of the codes the disconnected MAP sensor set, depending on what computer the codes were set it. I think the ECM keeps them until Cummins resets them.

Chris
