Help! Need more caster, replace lower control arms?

I need more caster, I'm going through a trac bar and steering box every 6-8 months. The most I can get is 2.5 degrees of caster. I have no return to center, and it's sawing the the steering wheel on two lane roads.

Adding more caster would reduce stress on the box and trac bar I would think. Has anybody ever installed the adjustable lower control arms or just added longer arms to the truck?

The problem with much more caster is that it drastically reduces ball joint life beyond about 4* or so with these heavy front axle weights. I run almost 4* and no more....we cranked the adjusters to the max setting and didn't quite hit 4* but came pretty close with the stock control arms on my 98.5. I'd be taking a closer look at who is rebuilding your steering boxes that is causing them to wear out so quickly. A quality box build will last many times longer than that. And as to the track bar, there are several quality aftermarket fixes that eliminate the poorly designed track bar joint at the frame.

I'm on my 3rd PSC box and it's getting sloppy, not happy at all. The caster adjustment/ecentric washers are not turned completely to the max, only 2/3 of the way. The alignment shop said that 2.5 was the most they could get it to adjust though.

It seems the more it's turned the caster I could get.

I thought the wandering, no return to center, and poor steering was causing more stress on the box and making it loose quicker, maybe not. All of the other steering components are good and tight.

I don't know what to do.

B.S.

My alignment guy told me the same thing when I was fighting death wobble on my 3rd Gen. The adjuster bolts were only about 2/3 forward. I don't know if he didn't loosen the upper mounts or what when he was working on it, but I cranked those bolts all the way forward, with a little help from a floor jack underneath the end of a breaker bar. . It didn't help the DW but at least I know I got as much caster out of it as possible.
