Help me guys....

What the signs of a dying VP?

I just got my truck back from getting Suncoast tranny and I installed my 150hp EDM's last night and I can't get this thing to smoke that much at all. Even with my comp on 5x5. I mean this thing should be putting out some major coal! My highest EGT was 1250 or so, with 34psi of boost, @ about 90mph. While I was WOT on the on ramp earlier the truck started to miss/stutter at about 55-60, for about 6 seconds or so. It does it worse the more load their is on the engine. This also happened everytime I was WOT today. Also I've got a hard start. I mean I can ride in the truck all day shut it off for a minute and it still won't crank right up till the 2nd or so try, but if the truck sits for an hour or over night it takes about 3-5 trys. What the heck is going on? I've checked all my fuel lines and connections and everything is a A-OK. This sucks I've got a bad **** tranny and a truck that wont smoke....

I didn't even look at the FP gauge to be honest. I'll take it down to Advance auto and check for codes in a little while. I've been running around over all of creation today.

Sounds like a bad injection pump.

On a side note, how are you liking the tranny? Mine's getting worse and worse. It slips with the TST off and smarty on fuel saver now.

Well I figured out why I can't black out two lanes of traffic. I was sent some cores instead of the 150s! My man scott over at massdiesel straightened everything out and he overnighted the 150s, so they should be here in the morning! Scott's got some KILLER customer service!

BigBlue the tranny is AWESOME!! When this thing shifts you KNOW IT! And lock up.....HOLEY CRAP! It's so much different when I get on it. When it shifts to second its crazy. I just can't wait to get those 150s in tomorrow. It's gonna be a real fun to drive!

Sounds like typical inj pump hiccup to me . You need to check your codes ,but my past two did the same thing before they went/croaked. It can be sporatic like that. You may get 5k miles out of it yet(or more) or it may croak tomorrow. That's how mine acted before they went anyways.

So there is no way to test the VP44? I checked for codes the other day and nothing came up. Also I ran into Lowes today and was only in there for about 20 mins, when I came back out it cranked right up. Also I ran into another store for only about 10mins and it cranked right up. I let it sit for about 3 hours before I had to head back to athens and it wouldn't crank up till the second try. Now in the morning it's gonna take about 4 tries.

I installed my new 150hp EDMs that scott made over at MassDiesel and the missing/stutter is gone, but the hard start is still there of course.

So every body is guessing injection pump at this point???

Who has the best deal on a SO pump?

I know where you can get one for $950. The last one I replaced on my truck was doing the same thing. The first one left me in the middle of an intersection.....no codes, no warning.

Thanks.

Well it took about 3 tries for it to turn over this morning and 2 once I got out of my class, but it cranked right up when I came back out from getting some groceries.

This sucks.

Dumb question?

Do you have a air leak in a fuel line? That would create a hard starting problem too...

But normally if the VP44 is going south the P0216 code is there and there is a dead pedal problem...

That's what I've been thinking and once it's running its fine, no dead pedal and plenty of power. I checked and rechecked my lines and everything is tight. Is there something else that could cause me to lose FP while it's sitting in the parking lot? A hose that I might be overlooking or not know about?
