HELP!local dealer service mgr. will not help me!

my truck was flashing codes 1693,0234,0216 I know what all of the codes are for.I was told the 0234 was for the turbo/needs replaced under the 7/70 limited power train warrenty the original owner had purchased,i never transferred this to my name,(i didn't know about it until today),but they will still replace it-100.00 deductable.they claim that my lift pump and vp44 are not covered and i am on my own on them! i have read other posts on here about the CUMMINS warrenty that starts at the 3/36 end period.does that warrenty go for another 5yrs./100,000 miles after the 3/36?if so do i need to go to another dealer or what do i need to do?THANKS!!!! RON, Sorry I forgot to add that my truck is a 2002,with 49621 miles on it,THANKS AGAIN!

Once the 7/70 expires, Cummins or the dealer takes the remaining 30k on just the engine. Your then going to have to pay a detuctible to have it fixed. If the truck has less than 70k and it was bought on 8/30/2001 or later, it'll still have a DC warranty.

Go to "user control panel" [actually says user cp] on the left side mid screen. Click on "edit signature" & fill it out.

Those are some low miles on a '02. Congrats. 06 is right 7/70, been there. Try another dealership. Good Luck.

Some dealers will try and give you the runaround, especially if your in the green. Give another dealer a shot, and see what they say.

just got back from another dealer, same story was told i am out of warranty, they said the cummins warranty expires at 5yrs. or 100,000 miles which ever comes first.was also told the 7/70 warranty would not apply to me as it is still in the original owners name,i never was informed about transferring it.

This is a pain in the butt, but if you read the warranty part of the owners manual it will say that the 5yr/100,000 miles warranty runs consecutively to the 3yr/36. It did in my 01 manual. Bad wording on DC part. I have heard of a few who have had LP and VP replace after 100K. They also put up a stink with numerous calls to DC.

Isn't the P0234 code an overboost code? If so, its not saying you need to replace your turbo, simply the ECM saw boost higher than it should. That could even bee a sensor issue. Check your turbo for axial and radial play. Axially, it should be pretty tight. Radially, there should be some play in it, as long as it doesn't contact the compressor housing. If you are truely worried, pull the compressor discharge pipe off, and check for oil. If there is no oil, blades look good, and there is not excessive play, I'd hang on to it until you're ready to get a bigger one.

1st off,a very sincere THANKYOU! to everbody that has responded to my question.2nd of all,the reason my sig was't coming thru, was i kept answering with quick reply,DUH!!!! thats what happens when you put a truckdriver in front of a computer screen!well at least this truckdriver!95ram;thats what my warranty book says also!tate;you are correct about the overboost code,my truck is in THEIR shop so i cannot check the play on the turbo, but no oil is coming out of exhaust, but if i get a NEW turbo what the heck! my wifes 2002 jeep grand cherokee will be the next vehicle to be replaced, and if they want to shove this down my throat without any warrenty on their part, guess what brand i will not buy again!!!!

Ypur overboost code is most likely caused by a sticking/stuck waste gate. here is some info.
