HELP!!! just installed 4 INCH turbo back, no more HEATER CONTROLS

:'( 2002 H.O.

Just my luck-
i get my 4 inch turbo back exhaust system put on today, and take the truck out for a spin-
now the heater function select control doesnt work right, and its CONSTANTLY blowing air thru the UPPER windshield defrost vents-
i was driving down the road, and pulled over and did a quick inspection of the dash fuses, and under hood fuses, all look good, but it was dark, and i didnt use my multimeter-

the ODD thing is when i turn the dial to floor, it still blows on the windshield, and when i turn it to face and floor it still blows on the windshield, but when i turn the dial all the way to the left, IT SHUTS OFF!!!

SO, SWAG theory here, is there a mechanical rod that pushes a door/slide to change where the air is directed to?
im thinking that is the culprit, but IM OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS, cause after 1 hour of driving, my eyes are dried out and my contacts are killing me from the air coming off the windshield-
the select switch is normally selected to my cold feet 100% of the time- but my buddy joe decided to change the friggen dial and mess it all up!!!!!!!!!!!!! > >

so much for me buying the beers this weekend :
mine did that and it turned out that the switch went bad. it was pretty cheap to replace. I can't remember how much but it was not a whole lot. Well I mean less than I thought it would be.
DM01

Were you work ing around the back of the turbo for some reason? It sounds like you disconnected the vacuum line to the controls. it goes through the fire wall behind the turbo on the right side.

It goes through the fire wall right where th A/C lines go through. It is 1/8 plastic tubing. About 4 inches from the firewall on the engine side there is a 90* fitting and a check valve. From there it goes up to the cowl and across the engine. There are a couple of more fittings and "t"s one going down to the transfer case if you have 4x4 with the CAD axle. Another is about 1/4" and goes to the vacuum pump.
As I am writing this I would also check the lines to the axle and t/case. If they got knocked off it would dump your vacuum.
Look at all the vaccum connections, the "default" position is for the air to com out the defrost vents if you ever burn a hole in the hose or lose the vaccum.

Ok now that your feet are warm. Whose exhaust system did you use? And is it muffled or straight piped? I have a 3" straight. but I am looking for slightly mellower sound.

Re:HELP!!! just installed 4 INCH turbo back, no more HEATER CONTROLS

well , before i went to get it installed, i took the RIP ROOK ALLIED MUFFLER and stuck it over my stock tailpipe to see how loud or quiet it was going to be-

i couldnt stand the muffler being too quiet, so i had them install it backwards
(so the baffles dont catch the exhaust and quiet it down)

and it sounds very very good !!
nice and quiet on the highway, no drone, and you can really really hear the turbo zing thru the exhaust!!!

now that the stock exhaust is sitting in the bed, it looks puney compared to my new exhaust system. which looks friggen awesome by the way ;D

the fitment is perfect and the pipe looks killer coming out the tail end of the truck- wished i had a digital camera to let ya'll see what it looks like-

i also painted the system with 1200* high heat temp paint from the turbo back, and it has yet to discolor, or burn off-
ive put on about 100 miles since yesterday, and the paint seems to be holding up well- i just wanted to make sure there wouldnt be a chance for it to start rusting- GLAD i got that taken care of
i purchased the RIP ROOK exhaust system and it has a HUGE ALLIED muffler that is straight thru- but actually makes the exhaust system quiet under wide open throttle-

this system is definitely more mellow than my old
"no resonator and a 3 inch dynomax straight thru muffler"
there is NO resonance in the cab, NO drone, and the turbo spools alot quicker with this system-
here is the link where i bought it from- you will save some money if you send a cashiers check, and not get charged more for using VISA

here is the link

ps- i didnt purchase the exhaust hanger kit cause most muffler shops make their own hangers to weld on with-
