help on cooling service-please

what p/n or thermostat temp do i need for my 01 24v ?? ive come up with no less than 6 p/n,s for thermostats??do i need a 180 or 190 for light/medium towing and any recs on antifreeze??thanks bws

why are you changing it?if its running hot clean the radiator out,pull it out and preasure wash it it will probably solve a heat problem,my 01 was running hot,and if you replace your thermostat put a cummins one back in,go to a dealer and spend the money i tried others in mine and it ran hotter,good luck

should i use tap water or distilled water for mixing with the antifreeze??i hear diferent stories on this?? the stat p/n they gave me from cummins is 3946849 and is 56.00 and the seal is extra$$ ouch.does this seem like the right 190 degree stat??

I have this in my 2000 and am going to put it in my 1997 as well.

I think the coolant manufacturers recomend using de-mineralized (soft) water.
