heat exchanger -- both sides
I search and found lots about removing the transmission lines from the heat exchanger. Some confusion on sizes and which years have them..I don't the sizes on mine yet..but its a 99 auto ( rebuilt, from proformance powertrain). I'm not the first owner..no matter the exchanger itself is rusted away..so much that it leak transmission fluid..not fast..at least not yet..
I plan on couple the 2 transmission lines together..
what I'm wondering about..is if the heat exchanger is rusting bad enough will to also start to loose coolant? and the coolant side of the heat exchanger be bypassed.
I'd like to remove to completely..one more rusting part gone..
sometime I wish I had waited until a southern truck was at the right price...but I cannot complain..its not a 53 block... and might have a great tranny rebuild..
any thoughts??

you can remove the whole thing but if you live in the north you might want to find a good used one to warm up the ATF in the winter and install some ball valves to shut the heat xfer off in the summer
