Head has cracks

14 small hairline cracks from the seats out. 2 were 1/4" to 3/8" long. Going to replace with a bare head and use my valves and such. 3 intake valve need replaced-scoring. Still have to check springs.

Is this what I should do?
Yep, it's getting expensive now, oh well.

Can a mod merge this thread with my head removal thread with the above title.

Thanks.

Did you have a machine shop look at it ? there are a lot of ways to adress cracks , sometimes the crack determins with repair is required , some cracks can be left alone , it may be better if your opptions are limited , I think it might have been Piers that had new complete heads for $500 , if I remember it was a limited thing , but it was in the last week or 10 days that I saw it.

yeah, it's worth the call to piers. If they still have them they are new heads for $450 or $500, can't remember but either way it's well worth it!

Head was magna fluxed at the machine shop, they had another head there with only 180 k and it was worse then mine, lots more cracks. If it werent for the 2 long ones and with them heading straight for water jackets I would not get a new head. But this is all new to me and maybe I don't need to get a new head but I am so I don't have to worry about it.

I am going to call piers cause with those prices it would save me a ton of $$$.

Thanks.
