Hard start in warm weather
Alright 24 valve guys, a friend of mine has a 99 that has been beat pretty hard with about 325,000 miles on it. still original IP, but he installed an edge comp and FASS 150 system. but the trouble is when the temp is above about 50* or so the truck will crank forever and not start, but if he gives it a small shot of ether it will start right up. if its cold outside the truck will start just fine but once it warms up if you shut it off it will not without ether. once it is running though it runs great never misses, no dead peddle, or engine codes. it has good fuel pressure and no air leaks, all sensors and electrical tested fine. is it just time for a new IP? any thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks
Chris
Thanks
Chris
This is how my VP died. It will get worse.....mine took a month to start stalling at lights and such.....but if you need the happy can to start....better start looking for a VP-44 rebuilder. I have seen TONS do this.
Give that old girl a pat on the rear for making it 325,000!!! WOW! I can honestly say that he got his moneys worth.....he got about 2.5 times longer life than what most get!
