hard start in morning
My truck has just turned over when I try to start in the morning. After I bump the starter and wait for LP to quit, it'll start after 5 or 10 seconds of cranking and will start and run fine all day. I have 198k now, had IP and LP(in tank) replaced under warrany at 95k. I've been running a superchips tuner on low(towsafe) setting, but I turned it back to stock til I figure out my problem. My problem srarted when I'd leave it parked on a hill overnite, but it has also had hard starts on flat ground. I've had a constant drip/leak from the water separator valve, but I replaced it today, no more leak. What do you guys think? Do I have an airleak somewhere or is it something else. I've been checking my FP with a portable gauge on the IP schrader valve and get 10 at idle, 5 or 6 at WOT. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all the valuable info you guys put on this site!

When was the last time that you changed your fuel filter? Good thing that you found the leak and fixed that. There could be a some air in the line but after cycling the pump several times that should fix that.

I had the same thing happen to my truck, I put in a one way check valve just brefore the vp44 and it fires right up everytime. Fater in-law owned truck before me and had the truck at 3 to 4 places including dealers. no body could fix it. I, being a master tech figured that the vp44 was draining fuel back. so When I got the truck I put a inline check vavle and it works great. Den

Without a fuel pressure guage you probably burned up your second IP. Just hearing the LP run does not mean it is working good enough to cool the IP.
Get a guage.
Get a guage.

my truck is also hard to start, i pulled the power to my holley blue just for a second to see the fuel psi with just the factory lp and it said 0psi .
so i hurry up and put it back and 23psi . this is a NAPA lp that cost $200 plus. it is only 6 months old and 8k miles on it. if i didnt have that holley blue, my 2nd VP44 would be gone. do yall think i hurt my vp44? the psi has been 21-24 @idle 17-19 cruising and sometimes 12psi at WOT. i also just changed my fuel filter just to be sure, it looked fine, it'd had only been about 3k-4k miles since the last time i changed it. sorry for threadjacking.
thanks brian

Ihave been checking fp at the schrader valve on the IP with a temporary gauge from autozone. It is 10 at idle, 5 to 6 at wot. I don't know how to check fp on the in tank LP. Anyone know how?
