if you check codes and get nothing, you plugged it in, your lights are dimming from the grid heaters cycling, you have a fuel leak period. it can be so small you can not see it it just lets a little bit of air in, you still get fair fp reading but it is areated and causes timing to retard enough to not start.

Just cylce the ignition three times without starting it and if there are codes they will come through at the odometer. When it is done it say pcode done.

Key cycle doesn't work on a 99.

Need to have it scanned to reveal codes.

I noticed that my lift pump(holley blue) didnt come on when I first turned the key to start the grid heaters. I watched the FP gauge during all of this and it didnt even blip. Then I tried bumping the start to get it to come on and it wouldnt. Finally I got it to turn over and my FP was up to around 7 or so and slowly went up to 11. Could my LP(holley blue) be going bad? It only does this in the mornings after sitting over night. Once its cranked its fine. I checked all my Vulcan fittings and everthing seems to be tight. Any one have any ideas?
Believe your guage. I think your pump LP is bad.

I agree that you could be on the edge of lp issues, but at start up you should only have 0-2psi so I would be looking to the filter and still standing behind an air leak. you will be out $10 in fuel hose and an hour of your time and you can then rule out the air leak. the smallest amount of air will cause timing issues that screw with startup, if you have 7-11 psi at startup that could be part of your issue too much presssure causes hard starts too.

to start you need:
compression
fuel/air
timing
ignition

In a diesel the fuel is the timing and the compression is the ignition, you know you did not roach the motor sitting in the driveway, so providing you have a half clean air filter and no racoon stuck in the intercooler you really need to look at the fuel system. I bet you find a leak behind the lp or at the tank.

Does anyone have a schematic of the fuel lines route between the tank and the engine compartment? I'd like to see that b/c I still have hard starting issues.
