Good Transmission?
Good Transmission?
I am a bit nervous about my TC, now that I've the Edge chip on the truck, it purportedly puts out 600 ft-lbf at 2K rpm (is this true?!?), and the TC is rated for 440 ft-lbf. Would it be wise to either upgrade the entire transmission, or just upgrade the TC? Are there any other components at risk in the tranny if the truck is, in fact, putting out that kind of torque? Are there any other drive train components I need to worry about?
If I MUST get a new transmission, what brand should I go with - or should I have someone build up my stock tranny? This current OEM transmission has ~ 8k miles on it, the last one blew out 2 weeks after I bought the truck!
Thx in advance for the advice!

The DTT VB gives you a higher apply pressure for the TC clutch and all the other clutches. This increases the torque capacity.
I would call DTT and ask them what they have to say about it- you have their VB, and they were always extremely helpful to me.

I also have a DTT and that's what we build in the shop. A VB swap should rally be used with a TC for maximum effectiveness.
Remember, the transmission should be addressed as a system. But a TC/ VB combo will go a long ways towards helping the trans live longer.
