Gone back to stock

Have you guys ever taken your BOMB'd truck back to stock?

I did, it blows!!!!!

Chasing down a drivability problem, so I thought I would pull out the EZ and the DD2's and go back to original. She's a pig now!

I'll drive it like this for a few weeks and then start putting everything back on one part at a time and see what develops.

Stock power is sure a change!!! Good thing I have the CON OFE!!! LOL!!

Well it confirmed my suspicions though. Truck still acts up without the EZ and injectors, so I think it's safe to say the Injection pump is on the way out.

Truck feels like it has the brakes on all the time, pedal goes dead at random, huge flat spot at 2200 rpm in 2nd gear. Really have to push it to get up to cruise speed. I've done the APPS reset a few times and nothing changes. Only code I have is 1693, nothing else. Fuel pressure never drops below 11 at WOT.

The EZ and injectors sure hide the problems though. Truck was doing all the above with them installed, but the problems were not really that noticeable. Pulled everything and they are noticeable now!!

Which brings up a question about injection pumps.........

I'm going to take it into the dealer and they can check it. Truck only has 50,000 miles on it. Have to wait and see if it will be a warranty thing though. Yes, they do know whats been done to it and I haven't had any problems with them yet.

My question is.....Some of the bigger outfits selling reman pumps have an RV275 injection pump listed for not a lot more than the HO unit. Can I run this pump?
I don't see why not. Anyone have any input?

Thanks guys!!

I hope your dealer is better than mine. I did a wiring mod to isolate the trailer brake fuse and they tried to tell me that is caused the lift pump to go out. I had to take pics and write a 5 pages discribing what I had done before they would touch it. You might have to pull every thing off and go to a different dealer to get it covered under warranty. GOOD LUCK!!!!

My dealer has been good towards all that I have done to the truck. If they don't want to warranty it, no problem. I knew I was taking that chance when I started to BOMB it.
If they don't warranty it, they definitely won't be the ones fixing it when it's my dime. I'll either do it myself or get one of my local diesel shops to do it.

With regards to the APPS reset, done that and many other things thinkable and no change, the pump is on the way out!!

Injection pump was replaced today under warranty. No questions asked other than "How often are your fuel filters changed?" They pulled a 0216 code, called Chrysler and it was immediately authorized. Dealer had a pump on the shelf.

Is there any kind of break-in I should be thinking about? Just curious?

Thanks again.

good deal - it sounds like you have a decent dealer....question is: did you pull your EZ before taaking the truck in??

Everything but the box and the injectors were in the truck at the time, but they know they exist. The truck goes in for oil changes and such exactly like my sig says.

Maybe next time will be a different story, time will tell. I did mention to them that if your not going to warranty it, I'll get a replacement pump from somewhere else and change it myself, your not doing it!

I don't know if it was done because I'm a good customer (3rd truck from them) or because I refer a lot of buyers to them (5-6 a month), who knows. I figured it would not happen because of the Max Flow System, BHAF, fuel pressure guage, etc were all installed, so I was fully prepared to foot the bill for a replacement.

It's fixed and my baby is back on the road, all that matters I guess.
