Going to look at a truck tomorrow

The truck in question is a 24v 2002 2500 4x4 with a 6 speed. Has a Banks intake and the Banks Automind tuner, should there be anything i should look out for? Truck has only 157k on it and is C-L-E-A-N. I'm not new to the cummins but I have been around 12v a lot more and am looking to step into a 2nd gen. Any advice? Thanks a bunch guys

Ask to see receipts if its a private seller and don't believe any bs the dealer tells you about the old man that owned it and kept it wrapped in a blanket.

Test drive it for a good 20-30 minutes and see how it runs /feels. Mine had 43K on it when purchased and I could tell it already had front end problems,,$1800 to fix right!

Dealer told me it had a complete service. LIES! fuel filter was gunked up and black and oil filter was wiped clean on the view side, when I pulled the dipstick he says "Diesels blacken the oil the instant you start it after a change" that is also a line. Mine stays green and pretty clear for at least the first 500 miles after a change.

Just spend some time in it and remember if it has been tuned its probably been pushed, not a bad thing, but possible its pulled heavy and hard.

The 6-speeds are $$$ to fix/replace, but if you plan on towing you can't get any better. The stock clutch is ok for weekend campers but if you pull big weight, you will want the appropriate clutch ex: Southbend or Valair.

Banks stuff is top shelf.

Good luck!!

Check the front end over real good for loose parts. I am in S.J. also and off of work right now if you need some one to look it over with you. I have a dr.s appointment tomorrow midday though. Where are you at?

Elmer NJ, it is private owner and truck is immaculate. Asking 10k and i don't believe what anyone says when it comes to a used vehicle until i see it. I do not tow heavy at the most a car and trailer.

That is about an hour from me and I couldn't do it today because of my appointment. Sounds like a good deal. Good luck with it.
