Does anyone know what wire has demarkation of "W" terminal for an aftermarket Tachometer. Wait... let me simplify. How do I hook up an aftermarket tach for a powertrain transplant? The haynes manual and dodge techs dont even know what color wires come out of the alt. If not possible for alt., where else do I hook up VDO 4k tach?

 

if its for a gas engine i dont think you can. but stewart warner makes a 3-3/8 or 5 inch tac it in the new summit catalog.

 

Autometer makes a diesel tach as well..... Uses a pickup off the harmonic balancer.

 

do you know if the autometer pickup will work with a vdo tach? I already have VDO throughout the other systems and would like to keep it consistent unless I keep the Military gauges. And yes its for a diesel... 02 Cummins
