Gears
Gears
OK I feel dumb.
You guys are always talking about your gear ratios and I really don't know what I've got..... How can you find out?
Also, can anyone give me a crash course on what is better for what.?
Thanks

94-02's have 3.54 or 4.10 gears.
On my 94 theres the factory build stick under the hood, its listed there.
Or you can check your rear diff, theres a metal tag strip on the right side thats its listed on there also.
RPM's are an easy way to find out, Manual 5sp, 2k rpm @70mph = 3.54 gears.
More info here: http://www.dodgeram.org/tech/specs/axle/rear_axle.html You have a Dana Axle, 70 or 80 depending on model and trans choice.
4.10's good for mountains, heavy towing, or use with an 47re auto.
3.54 good for mpg, better mileage, manual trans.
