Question fuel system questions

well heres the deal, lift pump went south, i have a superchips programmer, i pulled the codes and had the 0216 code, brought it to a dealer in san antonio, he said the only code was long crank time, i knew something was up. then they wanted to CLEAN my fuel injection system for $265. i told them no. i have never heard of such a thing, they said they had a machine there that not all dodge dealers have which would do a nice job. i figgerd i was gettin hosed. so they changed the lift pump, i get back home and brought it up to my dealers, he put the puter on it and it had the 0216 code! he said he was going to do some reasearch and get back to me.

so are they going to replace my VP?

if they do will i get better fuel mileage? mine sucked before, which is why i got the tuner.

these guys dont seem to knowledgeable on diesels, should i let them do the job?

is there such a machine that dodge has to clean the fuel system of a diesel? if so does it work?

should i take my BHAF off before bringing it to the dealers? i did in SA but they only wanted to replace my stock filter because it was dirty. i dont know if they frown on things like that.

You can't go wrong by putting the stock airbox back on if you have it especially if your dealer seems lacking in the Cummins know how, they may just use it as an excuse to turn you away, although you could beat it, it might just save you the hassle. just out of curiouosity did the gauge go pooey? how much fp did it have?

Good luck,
GREG

Remember to put the stock program back in the truck before taking it to the dealer. If they reflash your ecm with the superchips program in it your superchips will not work for programming your truck anymore.

Why would he have to do some research ? A p0216 is injector pump timing failure....your gonna need a inj pump......keep an eye on your wot pressure. Mileage should get better. There is a cleaning system for the fuel system , but its mostly used for cleaning carbon from the injector tips. A good coditioner can do the same.
