gear ratio
Has any one changed their gear ratio? I have a 2001 4x4 with auto and a 355 limited slip. I would like a 410. You would have to change front and rear right. About what is the cost of doing a switch?

Yes you should change both, if you didn't and ever put it in 4X4 things would break!! Cost is totally dependant on what you will get charged for labor. The gears are about 250 for the front Dana 60, the rear is a Dana 70 or 80, the cost for those gears are about 270 for the Dana 70 and about 400.00 for the 80. Then you will need the bearings etc, about 200 per axle. You can probably find a rearend guy who will do the swap for around 250 per axle. So you are looking at about 1400.00. Ouch. I would try to find someone who wants your 3.54's and trade

I know the 80 you will have to change carrier. Parts for changing I was just recently quoted $1,200.00, Labor is dependent on who does the work. Four years ago I was quoted $2,600.00 at the dealer. I used the money to buy power upgrades instead.
Rearends can be very touchy, get it wrong and you wish you would never have messed with it.
