fuel pump question

i have a 2001 cummins and my truck is throwing the p0216 code which is the death code for the vp44 but i check the pressure and it is 12 psi idle and 9-10 wot does it sound normal to have that amount of fuel pressure and get the p0216 code also every morning when i start my truck it bogs down really hard and will barely run for the first 1/4 mile i drive then runs normal i have some power loss and my mpg is down could it just be a dying lift pump or is it the vp44 for sure

Mine threw those codes, read my post dead pedal gone, not saying it will fix yours but it did fix mine, btw I had good pressure per a mech who checked mine but when you think about it my problem was intermittent your pressure will be good when it is not stalling, also mine is fixed as of this posting, I do have that creepy feeling that at any moment mine will falter, if that happens you will hear me scream if you are anywhere in the U.S.

You get fuel pressure from your LP. You get the codes from the electronics in the IP. Two diffrent items. Get a fuel gauge and install it so you can constanlty monitor the fuel pressure. A must.

Bad vp. You might want to read up on the conversion before you jump on the P7100 kick, bolting one on is easy, making it work right is another thing! Way cheaper & easier to replace your vp, put a warning light or gauge on, and keep driving
