Fuel Pressure Dilema
Fuel Pressure Dilema
Ok, here's the scoop. Installed my fp gauge 2 weeks ago. Was reading 10 idle and 4 wot. Took it to dodge and they replaced my lift pump. Brought up the fp to 15 idle and 8 wot. A week later, my fp has dropped to 13 idle and 5 wot.
P.S. When it is at 13 at idle, the needle "fluctuates" to 12.5 and 13.5....wasn't doing that when it was at 15.
The fuel filter was replaced before the gauge install, and the same fuel was in the truck before it dropped from 15 to 13 (didn't fill up).
I checked all my connections, same results. I talked to the dealership today and they really didn't think that 5 wot was that bad. I told him otherwise. He also said that my high flow banjos would lower fp. I told him I thought that they would raise it. Who's right, me or them?
Anyway, what should I do next, or have them do?
(cheapests suggestions please!)
Thanks guys.

The dealers should be testing for volume through the LP and not pressure. 5psi though the high flows would yield more fuel than 5psi through the stock banjos. Pressure is a good indicator for a failing pump and overall health of the delivery system, no doubt in that, but the dealer shops might even listen to you on your observations, but before they will take any remedial action they will measure the flow. Wish i could remember what the tech quoted me as for what the min. volume should be, a search might turn it up if you are interested.
Now the dealer *should* have replaced the fuel filter when they changed the LP, then you changed it again (if i read your post right), if thats right and you are still seeing a drop I'd check the filter and housing once again, maybe got a really lousy tank of fuel, or managed to stir up whatever crud has accumilated in the system enough to get it moving around.

flow only
i had mine into the dealer awhile back for a fuel lp check and they did not check the press, they said the factory wants them to check the flow now.i can't remember the amount either.

Ya know, a Holley Blue would fix your problem pretty nicely.
Your lucky. My dealer told me my high flow banjos would void my warranty. So I put a PE pump on there and got rid of all of the stinking banjos.
The high flow banjos will provide more volume and pressure.
