Fuel Gauge Dilema

When I slow down and come to a stop my fuel gauge moves towards empty. And when Im driving down the road it shows that i have more fuel than when im parked. Is it normal for my fuel gauge to move around so much? It makes me think that it might be inaccurate as well.

I don't know if it's "normal", but mine doesn't do that.

Mine bounces around all the time...most of the time it reads about a 1/4 less than what I really have....I just top it off between 1/2 and 3/4 and dont worry about it.

You or someone has fueled at a truck stop on the truck island. Because the big rigs fuel with a lot more pressure & volume than our automotive pumps it knocks out our fuel sending units to the gauges (mine out right now completely)( I now use my mileage to gauge my fuel until I can repair). Your arm has been knocked off. Quickest way to repair is to remove bolts holding the bed on. If you are lucky enough to have something to lift the front of the bed up , it will give you excess to the tank rather than dropping the tank down.
Hope this helps!

You my find this fix interesting. Sounds like a nice way to say goodbye to a float all together, then fill up where you want. KD

EDIT: and a cheaper alternative to a whole new float/sending unit.
