Fuel filter / water separator question.

I have a 1998.5 24 v .

When i go to drain water after every fill up , nothing ever comes out .

I even tried draining it with truck running .

Is it working properly anyway to test it?

Oh I am running a fass II system.

The Fass was installed a couple weeks ago. So I have not attempted to drain yet.

I have Owned the truck for a few months .Dealer went thru it and changed all fluids and adjustments.

Fass 2

Sir;

I just finished installing my FASS 2 System on my 2002. To help bleed the air out of the fuel system after the install, I turned the ignition key just to “bump” the starter – this will let the fuel pump run for 25 seconds. During the 25 seconds the pump was running, I opened the drain valve on the fuel filter housing. Air and fuel came out of the drain at a furious rate. I did this until I had air free diesel fuel coming out and then closed it. I then bled the system the rest of the way at the return line at the injector pump. With the FASS 2, I had 20 PSI at the Schrader valve connection with a fuel pressure test gauge.
You may want to try it this way. I have tried draining the fuel bowl before and had nothing coming out. The Haynes Repair Manual says to drain it at every fill up. The factory manual says to drain it only if the “Fuel in Water” warning light comes on in the dashboard. Hope this is of help to you.

My Best, Greg
