Front Suspension Issues

Ive had my truck for 3 years now....When i bought it, it drove like a new car.....Now i noticed the truck is all over the place. Here are some of my problems....

1. Going over small bumps and stuff im getting a knocking/popping in the steering wheel...

2. I travel over the same bridge deck alot, and it feels like the whole rear end of the truck is bouncing all over the place and the spaces between each part of the bridge are tiny..

3. Its getting harder to even keep the truck driving straight...It wonders side to side alot..

Yesterday we were bouncing the front of the truck and when we let go, it had an extra bounce and a half...

So, im looking for ideas when i take it to the shop wednesday, i want to know what to look for so i dont end up buying stuff i dont need or get ripped off...

Front end rebuild likley. Ball joints...get the MOOG ones. Tie rod ends again go with MOOG. Trac bar, spend the money on a good one. Shocks, gete lifetimers from a local tire shop and be done buying these for the life of your truck. A good alignment. You may need a steering box also.

Go to a reputable tire shop/mechanic so you get what you need. 2 estimates or three if you can and compare. If everything is shot you're looking at about $1700 to do it right. Don't ask how I know, but its all in my sig.

a good set of control arms with urethane bushings, not the cheap u shaped sheet metal stock ones, lots of noise can come from those. get them one inch longer than what you have for a future lift, will keep tires away from rubbing at the 3 oclock position.

Don't worry about getting ripped off, you need the works.

What about the "rock solid" thing and the "Borg and warner" steering shaft?

NO its NOT normal, that is why you hear the pop/bang and one of the reasons your are wandering all over the place, if you go stock again get a lifetime warranty one or better yet a 3rd gen bar and bracket, or one of the other better designed bars.
to check your other stuff, jack up the front and pull push the wheels any movement could be a wheelbearing or more likely balljoints (use a bar under the wheel and lift up and down to help diagnoise BallJoints, personally I'd only replace whats broke

Bingo. I just bought an 05 that I knew would need some front end new parts. Pretty much sounds like what my truck is doing. Brought it to a mechanic I know. I'm gonna pretty much throw all new suspension parts new, tie rod ends, ball joints, bunch of other stuff. Gonna run around 1600 and thats with 25% off parts. I knew it had to be done but I should be good for along time after its done with all the greaseable parts now.
