Front left inner brake pad SHOT!

I have read numerous times about 2nd gen trucks pulling left while braking. Mine is no different, but kind of inconsistent. I had some grinding going on in the front left so I pulled the brakes apart today to check things out. The left front inner pad is down to metal while the outer pad is around 1/8 inch. The front right is nearly 1/4 inch inner and outer... What gives? Is this normal? My brakes have never been repaired or changed (78k miles), the lines have never been opened to allow air in, so what's up? Is there something from the factory that got hosed up? Sliding pins were all good, even still had some lube on them. No stuck pistons.
Vent over. Better parts are on the way. I'm doing the GM rear wheel cylinders at the same time, so hopefully I'll be impressed...

Yeah, you will be much impressed with the larger 30mm GM brake cylinders. As for your issue, I had the same thing, albiet mine was the right side wearing faster. Keeping the sliding pins VERY lubed helped. In fact I ended up replacing both calipers last year. I lubed everything up several times during the year, every time I rotated the tires actually. So when I put on a new set of pads this past month, I noticed that all the pads wore evenly.

Yep, mine wore to the metal on the drive front side. I was checking things the night before leaving for the beach.....noticed the inside pad/rotor looked funny so at 7pm I had to swap them out. Good thing I already had the pads. Took about an hour.....that includes beverage time.

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Do brake job including turn/replace rotors. Replace both calipers Do not push fluid back into master cylinder.

Mine happened on the Pass. side I heard some grinding and by the time I got it home I had metal on metal and the metal chips were all over the white paint on my truck. I had a heck of a time getting it off!
