Front end wandering and vibration at 60
Front end wandering and vibration at 60
Hey yall. My front end seems to wander a little and I get this vibration at about 60 mph that goes away after 65mph. The vibration was there with my 305's and is still there with my 315's so I don't think it's the tire. The tires are freshly balanced (about 1000 miles on them) and the front end has been aligned recently (vibration was there before alignment was done). I had my dad turn the steering wheel while I looked at the trac bar and I didn't see it move. Truck is a 2001 4X4 for those who don't know. The vibration started happening about 3 months after I got my 2" leveling kit installed. I need new front shock bushings (the one's that came with the shocks are to small). The front shock bolts are tight. Thanks for the help yall.
If it's a kind of high frequency vibration it could be front U-joints or front driveshaft u-joints. I'd also look for play on the telescope in the front driveshaft. Does the vibration change when you're in 4X4?

It's likely that the vibration and wandering are caused by the same thing. But they could also be two different things.
For wandering, track bar (double check it) and pitman arm. Or maybe the steering box. The vibration could be tires, u-joint, or wheels. If you hit something hard, you might have bent a wheel.
If it was a warped rotor, you'd feel it in the pedal.
Good luck- let us know what's up.

I don't think it's the tires. It happened with my old tires as well as my new one's. I don't think it's wheels either. I could be wrong though. I'm getting new one of those soon hopefully so I can hopefully eliminate that. I hadn't thought about u-joints. I guess a trip to the dealer is in order. Let me know if yall have any more ideas. Thanks for the help yall.
