Front Driveshaft U-Joints

Hey Guys,

I pulled my front driveshaft this morning and it looks like I need to replace the u-joints in it. I'll likely do all (3) since I have the driveshaft out. My question is, does anyone have some part numbers for these u-joints and where can a guy buy these online? What are the best brands to get?

Thanks,

Jeff

Guys,

When I pulled the front driveshaft off I noticed that there was lots of play on the yoke at the front axle. Is there supposed to be edges on the yoke to hold the u-joint cups from moving back and forth? There are no edges on my front yoke so the u-joint has play due to the caps moving in the yoke itself. It may be that I just need a new yoke on the front axle?

Thanks,

Jef

There should be retaining clips (C clip) on the caps inside the yoke to center it. Sounds like they are missing. Get replacement straps and bolts while you are at it. I believe I was able to get new ones at a generic part store.

If the new straps are still loose due to the yolk being worn I have filed down the tops of the "U" to give it more clamping force.
