front crank seal

I just did the kdp 1200 miles ago. There was no oil seeping out of the front of my motor at all. after that. All a sudden 2 days ago its started leaking. Last night there was one small drop on my steering link. Today after 90 miles there is about 40 spots all over the steer links and axle and such. Im gonna get a new one to put in for tomrro or wensday. Is it worth trying to put the new one on with the timing cover on the truck or do i have to take everything off agian like i did for the kdp?

No you can do it with the cover on it just may make it harder. Just make sure there is NO oil or grease on or around the seal the seal puts a layer of teflon on the crank and any oil with mess up that seal.

dieselrob,

Did you find you had a problem with the KDP when you got inside, or did you have the "updated" timing cover?

I guess i had the updated case because where the dowel was the case stuck out a 1/4 inch past the pin. I still made a custom washer and put it in just to be safe.

dieselrob, glad to see you got it worked out. I have used www.rockauto.com in the past, they're pretty quick in sending parts. Maybe helpful in the future!
