free spin hub kits
Do a little searching and you will find threads where we beat it to death.
I never did find out if the Furd D60 knuckles from 92-97 would fit, they used the same balljoints.
There is also a homebrew conversion, sorry I don't remember the poster, but they adapted the Furd D60 stub axles out and it worked well.

If properly maintained the front u-joints and moving parts will last a long time. As for the CAD systems of the 80's trucks, well I've never owned one. I have plenty of 70's full-time 4x4 trucks that I love. Put it in 4-hi and drive. No getting out. So yes I guess its what your used to.
I think $1200 can be better spend somewhere else. The hub design is certainly not a major weak point in these trucks.

really i ran 285/75 R16 tires and towed a majority of the time and discovered that my unit bearings failed at 40k miles and 78k miles factory replacements both times (dealership serviced) and BTW the second time a unit bearing roached itself it happened in nevada. i had a GN trailer on and AAA doesnt tow 3/4 ton or 1 ton trucks nor will they tow your trailer between winnemuca and Battle moutain there isnt a whole lot and battle moutain was about 75 miles from where i broke but yet it was the closest town with a shop. getting towed to battle moutain (closest place) having trailer towed wasnt cheap. next getting a hotel room for three nights since it broke down on a saturday night and no one is open till monday then waiting till late monday to ge the part specially brought in, then waiting till tuesday before i could get my truck and trialer back by the time it was all said and done i had $870 in one unit bearing and the labor, $150 in hotel rooms, $42 in food, $330 to tow my truck and $400 to get my gooseneck into town.
After experiencing that i would say that $1200 is well spent on a "SERVICABLE" bearing that i pack and inspect before long trips. cheap piece of mind and a part that lasts longer than those unit bearings.
do it yourself is possible. believe it was ford hubs and spindles with dodge rear rotors matched to the ford hubs. i'll look around for the thread. otherwise the EMS kit was the most affordable for me. all three kits are great. well worth every penny all of my dodges from 1994 until my 03 that i have now all rarely get over 80k miles on stock unit bearings. you plan to have the truck over 160k miles two set of bearings plus tow bill etc and theyv paid for themselves
Do any of the 3 manufacturers of free spin kits offer a kit that will work on a DRW 3rd gen? I'm really interested but I haven't seen the option and I don't think the factory budd wheel adaptor will bolt on these kits - but I'm not sure.
I have the Dynatrac free spin kit and like it a lot. I had a LOT of hassle with the vacuum assist OEM junk. I would register "in 4wd", when it was not, resulting in getting stuck badly. I made the change.
FWIW, I have a 90% complete kit for sale, fits the Dana 60, including a Track Lok posi.
