flat towing

If I pull this truck with all four wheels on the ground at about 50 mph for 30 to 50 miles do you think I'd have to pull the driveshafts or could I just put the transfer case in neutral? The manual doesn't recommend towing, but would it do any damage? Is the t-case pressure lubed or splash?

There is an oil pump in the T-case located on the mainshaft. I'm not sure if it's driven off the input or output shafts.

what do you think about letting the truck idle with the trans in gear and the t/c in neutral when towing? there is nothing wrong with it, I just need to pull it behind a crane to the next jobsite so I have a way to get home.

I would leave it in the transfer case in 2wd and let the motor idle. If you put the transfer case in neutral it engages the centeral axle disconnect so you would have the front drive shaft turning. Ihave a friend that takes his trucks to his job behind his dump truck. He runs an automatic and has done it the way i said since the early 80's with no problems. The transfer cases oil pump works off the output shaft so when ever the output truns it is pumping oil.
