finally hooked up my pyro today

Well i finally got the courage to drill the tap my exhaust manifold today, that was very nerve racking! I ended up using a self centering drill which made it much easier and allowed me to go slow. i just kept cleaning out the hole, and used lots of grease on the tap to keep from getting alot of junk down the hole. worked pretty good with no problems!

question now is, what is the safe temp for egt?

I tow a 30' toy hauler and dont want to melt anything, Ive since programmed my hypertech to level 3, and am running a 4" mbrp exhaust, and kn filter.

ran it today and it never got above 800 deg. just cruzing around town though.

pretty sure anything over 1250 is concidered high, but it depends on how long you keep it there for. 800 is good but i assume that was with out your trailer

When I pull that grade out of SLO(Cuesta) towing my Jeep the EGT is usually around 1200 at 65 mph in 6th gear. You can controll it pretty well with the go pedal.

i pull that grade in 4th at about 50mph (37" tires and 3.54 gears). i agree that 1250 is a good break off point. i'll run forever at 1250 (grapevine or cuesta), but i'll use the throttle and downshift to keep it under 1300. revs and boost are your friend.
if you don't have a boost elbow in the turbo/wastegate line on your truck you'll be limited to ~20psi boost. an adjustable elbow or a fixed elbow (comes with EZ or Comp boxes) will allow you to get up to ~35psi with the stock turbo (depending on mods). anything much over 35psi on the HX35 is beyond the efficiency range of that turbo and you'll just make more heat and less power.

BTW Sandpuller2004, what are you putting in the toy hauler? We have been running quads and dirt bikes, but just bought a 4-seat rail last month. Weather has sucked any time we've had a free weekend, but we're going down to Pismo between Xmas and New Years.
CAN'T WAIT !
