FASS DDRP Low pressure

Installed FASS DDRP. Only 10 lbs at idle and 3 WOT. This is the second DDRP because the first was doing same thing. So the vender sent me a replacment. Put in a draw straw, new filters, new lines, Elect current is 13, new relief valve on VP44. Also installed a new rebuilt VP44 at time of installing DDRP. Any ideas? Bout to give up. Thanks

They sent out a bunch of them with the wrong relief valve spring. Call the number on the directions and they will send you a new spring. I bought mine from Geno's and they also have the new springs, no charge. After replacing the spring you will see 23# at idle and 18# at WOT.

I would do that, but was told this was one of the pumps that had the good spring.

I actually ended up with two new springs, If I can find the other new one and the old one I will take a picture. The bad spring has about 10 coils and the good spring only has about 5 coils but is much stiffer. The new spring I got from FASS was Yellow if I remember correctly. What you are describing is exactly what I had. I would take a look at that spring and see what it looks like. Where did you get the pump from?

Rick

P.S. The new spring from Geno's was not colored. I did find the new spring from FASS but I cannot find the old, bad spring for comparison. I can take a picture of the new one if be.

Yes both pumps came from Genos. Called them and they are sending me one to try.

Just got my own FASS DDHR lift pump installed Friday and was curious/disappointed at the same low pressures noted above, I'm at 7-10 at idle and 3-5 when on the throttle, thanks for the info on the spring swap, I'll be making some calls tomorrow first thing!

Is there a minimal positive pressure the VP44 wants in order to live? If it takes a week to get the spring and get it in should I not drive the truck? I have a 1000 m round trip over next weekend and need the truck to make it

thanks

I would not make that trip with those pressures. I would think the retailers would just send a new spring with it. FASS is in Oregon I believe so if you call them tomorrow you should have it in time to replace it. If you bought it from Geno's they will make it right, they are good people to deal with. If I had to do it over again I would go with a fuel Boss but I am happy with the pressures on mine since replacing the spring. 23lbs, idle and 18 WOT.

Im still having the same issue as you. They are sending me a second spring to see if it fixes it this time.

I talked to Scott at Geno's and they are sending a new spring, meanwhile, or in lieu of a new spring, he told me to take the installed spring and expand it by about 1/4" and reinstall it. I did that today and now have a solid 15+# at idle (maxed out the mechanical gauge) I never got the electric gauge off the high peg (I need to redo it I guess or at least a new sending unit) whereas before I had 3# under acceleration and 7# at idle on the electric and 7# at idle on the mechanical ( I cant see it under acceleration)

That shows that the spring IS the problem. I am sure Jerrod has the same issue. Now you can take your trip even if the new spring doesn't get there in time. Make sure you put in the new spring though because the spring rate is different. This one will eventually go back to what it was. Not instantly, but it will creep down over time.

Yes absolutely rick, they offered the option of new spring or just expand the old or both but i figured the old one wouldnt live stretched out and for the 15 min it took to change I could do it twice so i asked them to send the new and I went ahead and did the stretch. Going to town in it on Thursday (200m rt) so that should give me a better idea on whether it lasts or not and if I need to swap in the new one before or after the weekend
