Ever get a JUNK vp44?

has anyone got a new vp installed and then your truck starts acting up again either right away or shortly there after?

just curious b/c i've been trying to hunt down this rough idle and misfire problem for awhile now and i've talked to several folks and they all think i got a bad vp, i'm gonna find out cause i'm goin to where i bought it tomorrow to see what they have to say. i haven't even had this pump on a month yet!

It's a possibility with these pumps.

Yes, I got 2 from Cummins. 1 went bad in about 1 month the other about 3 months.
I had the Cummins dealer install the pump. When it went bad the last time they tried to blame it on everything but the pump. I had to fight with them to get the pump replaced , I had to tell them to replace what they wanted to but if it didn't fix it I wouldn't pay for it.

Hope this helps. Rodney

that's a bad deal bigrod, i hope i don't have that kinda luck. i've been doing the same thing too, trying to blame it on everything but the pump. and i talked to the place where i got it and they said it sounds like an injector problem. which is a possibility i suppose, but i know these injectors don't normally have a problem right?

Yup. I hate these blasted pumps but oh well. I guess I'm lucky I've had such good luck with mine. 133k and it's been tapped for 110k. Only reason I know it's dying is 3 dynos in a row I've dropped power and it's hard to start after sitting for a while or when it's hot.

Nah. It's on my already done list. I'm sending the check off tomorrow. I do a 500 mile commute every week to class so I need this thing to be very dependable.

They kept trying to say my ECM was bad. I told them to chack it, they said there is no way to check a ecm. I had to explain to them that there is a way to check it with a volt meter. About a 1 1/2 hours later they desided that the ecm was good. Then it was a wiring harness problem. About a hour later they were replacing the VP again.

All I can say is that I will never buy a VP from Cummins again.
