It's called an electric shift transfer case. On my 03' Laramie it was standard equipment. The extra space has come in handy when hauling 6 people.

what did you do, special order an elec transfer case?

even the Laramie leather "full boat" truck had a manual lever down there, and the accompanying sea of plastic gadgets for kids to stand on.

i looked at ~8 trucks, and all their 4x4 had manual transfer cases.

i was ready to buy something

The Laramie (H) package has the electronic shift on the fly. Laramie (J) package does not.

cool, so just look at another dealer who orders the H package!

i have shift on the fly on my 04 SLT.

don't really want to pony up $$ for leather & stuff just to get floor space, you know?

esp for kids to ride on

i dont think that has anything to do with it, I've seen 05's and a few 06s with a manual lever and no plastic console on the floor, just carpeting.

If I'm not mistaken but to get electronic shift on the fly in a SLT the Sport Package is required.

Not at all. I've had three 3rd gen 4x4's, all were SLTs and all had the electronic transfer case, none have the sport package. Two of those were 04.5's, and the current one is an '06. I see SLTs all the time at our local dealership with the electronic case and without the sport package.

Just to confuse you some more, I have Electronic shifting, and still have the floor console w/ cupholders and tray.

I have the cup holders down on the hump also and am wondering if there is a way to get rid of them and put them back in the dash?? I wonder what all the pieces would cost from DC? Maybe we could get them aftermarket from somewhere??
