Engine Warm up time....
How long does everyones motor take to come up to temperature...i go out and start my truck every morning at 6:24 exactly and i leave my house in between 6:43 and 6:45...im very precise on times i have the traffic in my town down to a T....but anyway the truck is sitting there idling for a good 20 minutes and the temp gauge has not even moved and i have no heat...and after 15-20 minutes of driving it gets to 190 and the stat opens up....thats a good half hour to forty minutes and it just get to be warm....is that how everyones trucks are???? ps.. im getting my block heater all squared away and working this weekend
how cold is it there? I leave mine running till the condensation stops coming out the stacks (about 4-6 minutes) then drive another 4 and can feel the heat starting (about 18* on the coldest morning so far)
You need to get the idle up at least around 1000. It is really not that great for a truck to sit in cold weather at idle, can cause a number of issues if done regularly.
I have a Pac Brake, that with the factory idle up has me up to 180* in about 7-8 minutes with temps around 30*.

A CTD will never warm up whil idling. Many will say you can do more harm that good letting it sit for more than 10 minutes. A block heater on a timer (that can handle 20-30 amps) set to come on 3 hours before start time is a beautiful thing. Even without the block heater, I start my rig, allow for oil pressure to come up and drive away. I'm very easy on the loud pedal and try to keep any significant load off the engine untill the t-stat opens. A winter front is helpful and I remove my fan in September, reinstall in May.

When I let mine idle at startup, I put the e-rake on and put the truck in drive (of course this only works with and auto). Puts just a little load on the motor. Mine seems to heat up fairly quick.
My truck always takes a long time to warm up. I recently put on the Quadzilla Adrenaline box and it warms up A LOT and I do mean A LOT quicker. The truck will rev up to 1200 rpm and within 10-15 minutes it is pushing heat.
IF you want a cheap high idle, you can cut a broom handle and wedge it between the seat and pedal. Move the seat forward---higher idle. Move it back---lower. Used to use that in Mass...now that I'm in TX I don't need it.
