Engine oil?
What do you guys think about Mobile Delvac compared to other brands?
I just did an oil change and used Mobile Delvac. I am not sure I like it.

Oil guy I spoke with at the logging conference in Eugene, OR a couple years ago says it's the best on the market. 'Course he was sellin' it, too. That's what's in mine right now.

Thats what i run in every diesel I own. Have had really good luck with it. No major engine problems to this date, even on a 1999 F-250 7.3 Power Stroke with over 330,000 Miles on it. Used Mobil Delvac 15W-40 since day 1.
Daddy Mopar- Why are you not to sure about Mobil Delvac?
Not trying to say your nuts at all. Just always interested on peoples input..

One word, ROTELLA.
We have been using it in everything, gas or diesel for years.
Try whatever oil you like and feel comfortable with. Take a sample at 3500 miles.
Then try the Rotella and compare it at 3500 miles with your other oil sample.
The Rotella will still be very clean looking compared to any other oil.
868,000 on my 96 and still going strong, and almost 400,000 of those miles was pulling a 4 car Kaufman wedge trailer loaded up and down the east coast.
No internal engine repairs period, never even had the head off.
Everyone will have their own favorite brand, but I work at a truck shop, and any oil that can keep a filthy, nasty, 2 stroke Detroit clean inside, has my respect and business.

isn't the point of oil with detergents (Rotella,Delo,Delvac,Amsoil for ex.) For them to "Catch" the "dirty deposits" and hold them in oil/detergent compound, which in turn will turn the oil black over time in a diesel??
If This is true, I'd rather see black oil coming out of my trucks drain plug than clean oil at each service..

A very good point right there lovinctd59...
I use John Deere plus 50. Biggest thing about it is the fact it has a higher flash point than most oils on the market. That and I get a discount on it...
Oh and anyone looking to save on filters, JD auto and light truck filters are made by fleetguard. My dealer sells them for $5.99ea.

The Delvac is just fine. In fact any quality motor oil that meets specs for engine will give more than satsfactory service when changed at correct intervals. Syn oil if want to go for longer change intervals or extreme temps. JMHO
