End all apps and transmission hunting fixes
End all apps and transmission hunting fixes?
ok guys, I have had the timbo app for awhile, I am on my second one and looks like I am going to need a third. P0222 showed up and throttle is intermittent and idles very high sometimes. Also from time to time my torque converter will hunt. I have the ATS rewire and the noise filter from geno's on it. Any help will be appreciated.
Once upon a time I had an old CJ5 with a straight six in it. 4spd std.
Start up a hill in 4th and just before you thought it was time to grab 3rd, it'd start bucking (hunting).
Basically, lug it in a high gear and it'd try to throw you out of it.
Motor mounts cured it.
My automatic ctd Ram was doing this same thing. I tried everything mentioned on here to no avail.
Now, this truck had some other problems and, to make a long story short. When I had the engine out, one of the motor mounts was bad. I replaced both.
It doesn't buck/hunt any more, BUT...I changed alot of stuff. So, not sure exactly what cured it.
Had a 64 Impala that acted similar (best I can remember). It would eat carrier bearing rubbers though. New rubber would cure it...for awhile.

I have posted my fix before. I removed every single ground I could find on the truck. Cleaned with a file or emery cloth, added di-electric grease and reconnected. Then I did the same thing with the altenator connections. They helped, but still had a little issue.
Here is the trick that I found, which some people miss:
The A/C connection! It is directly below the oil filter, and gets really dirty. I cleaned that really well with electrical cleaner (smells like brake or carb clean). Added grease and reconnected.
Seems to be the best fix I found. Still had to go through the whole process about once a year, but since the last time it's been almost 2 years. I also added a dedicated ground wire from the TCM (tranny computer on the firewall on the passenger side) housing to the battery. Noise filter did nothing for me.
Hope this helps.

Yep, ck and clean evey ground. Below the driverside battery, pass side fender well ,firewall behind the turbo.....everyone one you can find. The grounds must be clean for this truck to shift and run properly.
