Ecm Needed Badly
Ecm Needed Badly
After 4 days in the shop, a new alternator, a new lift pump, and a new injection pump, it has come down to my ECM being toast. They were finally able to borrow some sort of machine or tool from a cummins specialty shop that allowed them to bypass the truck ECM, and be run by this machine.
Looks like a new ECM through them is gonna run me $1200. Does anyone know where I can get a cheaper one, or a used one? Its on a 1999 Ford F800, so I don't know if its the same as a regular pickup one or not?? I know the injection pump was different than the pickups. Anyway, the Engine Serial Number is 56555851 if anyone can use that to point me in the right direction. Thanks.

The shop said they saved the calibration so they can program the new ECM. I am just wondering what will interchange with my truck as far as the ECM unit? Wonder if I could use one off of a pickup if it has to be programmed anyway?

The issue I'm wondering about is that its out of an industrial truck and not a pickup. I know the injection pump I had to put on it was different than the pickups. Does your ECM have two plug ins on it or just one? Mine has two rectangular plug ins on it. My motor is rated at 190 hp, and I know the pickups are rated for more. I can't find my camera or I'd post a pic of it. Can someone post a pic of their pickup ECM so I can compare?
