Ecm

98 1/2 24 valve Dodge Cummings diesel 4 x 4 130 thousand miles. I bought a smarty touch after a while I came up with error codes and now the truck just turnes over and will not start. Someone said it was the ECM and they said not to get the 98 1/2 to buy a 00,01,or01.5 Is this correct and do I just put it in and start the truck need help thanks

Amazing you don't realize you've put this in the forum for 1993 and EARLIER trucks.

I've tried to write it that way, but I only get **** in its place, hence the altered spelling. 4 beers by the time I wrote that, but it only made me full and need to pee.

Getting back to your dilemma, from what I just found, yes you can put a newer ECM in it so long as it is reflashed.

Since you have a Smarty, why not ask over on their board? I do believe they can help you get it fixed without replacing the ECM at all.

That being said, all you should have to do is take your truck to a Dodge Dealership and they should be able to reflash your computer back to stock
