DTT install, how long did it take

I just booked my date with the DTT folks. It's about a 7 hour drive for me to get to Abbotsford, but based on the input I've read around here I'm sure it will be worth it.

How long did it take to RRR the trans? What did you do for entertainment while you waited? Stefan said "sometimes" the service appointment overflows into the next day which got me thinking I might need a backup plan for while I waited. So what's nearby that a guy could walk or get a short cab ride to?

Well, it all depends. For me.. they had a tranny there ready. All they had to do was pull my burnt up tranny out and put in the new one. I think it took 4 or 5 hours. Every case is different so who knows.

Oh.. if ya get board.. just put your hands in your pocket . Bill will find something for you to do.

If I recall there is not much right there by the shop. Nothing really close. When I went they also had a trans ready and waiting for me. I let them know I was on a tight schedule beforehand and they said they could see what they could do to get me out of there same day. Good part was they had one waiting for me the bad part was I didnt get to see the inside of my old one and watch the rebuild. I would have really liked to see that. They started on mine at 9 and they were done by just after 1pm. and that included hanging out for lunch. Vinney and Darin are installing animals.

Stop by a Tim Hortons and pick up Bill a large coffee with 4 sweetners (no sugar). That will keep you from being put to work. Tell him I suggested it.

DTT is located in an industrial area. Not much to do within walking distance. They will take you back to your hotel if you want. I would plan on it taking overnight. It might not take that long, but no sense stressing about it.

DTT has done some changes to their torque converters in the last couple of months, and I can tell you they kick a$$!

Thanks for the info. I'm looking forward to seeing the whole process and most especially the return trip. I'm going to pick up one of their smart controllers as well, I might just install it myself but I'm undecided as of yet.

One other question for you guys that have run the border. Was there any duty to be paid? How about the GST, was that a hassle getting a refund?

Nope.. no problems with the gst. Shanti has everything in order and usually goes very smooth. Sometimes they'll give you canadian money back though. That's what they did to my brother anyways. They gave me all us funds
