Not being one that makes a big stink about problems, I think it is time that as Dodge owners who have paid some good money on their trucks to make a stand. My main concern at this time is in regards to the 47RE transmission. Recently I have seen and have experienced what seems to be a very common problem, the Governor Pressure Sensor and the transducer needing to be replaced at fairly low mileage or timeframe. I know I have seen many people that have had these parts replaced, and of course they are prone to failure right after the 35,000 mile warranty expires. At the Dodge dealer this can be a $400.00 repair.

I would like to see this group come together and let Dodge know of this problem and that this problem should be a TSB or Recall issue. After doing some research I have seen that other Chrysler vehicles have exactly the same problem.

I plan on writing DC and sending them all my receipts and include the parts as well. I know just by myself doing this will not generate much of a concern to DC but with all YOUR help and input this may help you in the future from this same problem. Many of you would surly hate to have a $180.00 wortht of parts fail when you are towing your 5th wheeler or Trailer up some grade.

We all know that the weak link of our trucks is the transmission and so does Dodge. Let’s make them step up to the plate and fix a problem that they know exists.

Write your letters to:

Daimler Chrysler
P.O Box 610207
Port Huron, MI. 48061-0207

Or if anyone knows of a web link I think just pass it along.

Thank you for your support DTR members

I recently e-mailed them a lengthy letter regarding a trans. issue, their feedback was lame at best, after a very detailed letter they simply wrote back 1 sentence telling me to take it to the dealership. A large waste of my time preparing a good letter, just thought i would share w/ you.

A lawyer should be if you want to make something happen. Just check out the whole lift pump issue. A lot of energy was put into the whole LP thing along the same lines, and nothing....

Class action lawsuits get peoples attention, and for the most part only after people have died. Sad but true.

It is an industry problem. I own a diesel VW Golf. It has a MAF sensor that goes out between 20K and 50K miles. The dealer cost is $450 to get the repair done. I immediately went and did a web search. Now for the Scam done by the car manufactures. On my VW the same MAF is used on the gas version of the car. Of course the gas version has a different part number. The gas version costs $85. The diesel version costs $400. I used a gas version. Now VW is requiring a VIN number if you purchase the gas version and they won’t sell you the part if your VIN is not a gas car.

BTW, the repair takes less than 5 minutes and you just use a Phillips screwdriver on the VW.

This problem is bigger than you think IMHO.

ho,i think that i would be inclined to report vw to the state attorney general for refusing to sell me that part, then call the local news station and ask them to try and buy it for a diesel.

seems to me you should be able to buy the part whether you own a gasser, diesel, or a mule.

HEE-HAW, I know there is some strength in numbers. The Bean counters in Detroit already have most of the numbers crunched. 2 years ago I bought a 2000 Dodge durango 5.9 V8 that had been a garage fire in Phoenix AZ, had NO damage other than SMOKE damage. Insurance company wouldn't total it, due to the fact that it was a 30+K$$$ vehicle, had 300 miles on it. Customer went to the state DMV and somehow managed to get a salvaged title. Chrysler, armed with insurance company documents, witness statements, and inspection certificates would still not lift the warranty restriction......Its just like half of us on this site...it all depends on the dealer, and what they are willing to push through..........Just my nickels worth

Today I will pay $575 dollars to have the dealer replace the governor transducer and the related solenoid that had a short in it. I have 51,000 miles on mine. Looks like the price for the repair is going up.
