Clever! Have not heard of that one either.
Any concern for transfer case after towing camper in frt wheel drive?
Dana 60 worked fine as rear end drive for many yrs.... guess it should work ok on the other end.

That's an Oldie but Goodie - when I blew the spider gears through the diff cover on my '98's D70, I just RTB'd in 4HI... and when someone stole Matt's rear shaft in Bowling Green after we R&R'd a common rail in the parking lot, I told him to cruise back up to PA on the front axle.

Cooooool!

And the 'Axle Wrap' video is way cool. Definately saved that one to my CTD File!

Mine only concern running with no rear shaft would be leakage out of the back of the transfer case??

torque steer. hahahaha.

Saw some trucks at the recent tractor pull that had trac bars up front. They were power jokes with leafs up front.

Thanks guys...pretty much guaranteeing that I'll destroy one the next time I hang on the trailer.

I usually try to ease into it and through the shifts when loading to avoid putting that initial shock on them. Although this last trip was a little hairy getting out of the pasture onto the highway.

i'm sure Brian does the same.... who wouldn't. But it's a great point.
That video is simulated drag/sled pulling launch.
New sled pullers (the smart ones) with no trac bars just start out slowly.....
and usually avoid wheelk hop resulting from spring wrap!

....................

Maybe you could help out Mike's economy a little bit and invest in some Lazarbars.....kind of like a little insurance policy.

Cruising with an empty truck is one thing......but, I don't know if I would feel real comfortable towing....especially heavy towing........in front wheel drive only.

Just got back from Ft. Campbell KY today and picked up the driveshaft with new u-joints and slip yoke back tonight: $251 out the door. Looks really good, they spray painted it black. Will install tomorrow, top off t-case and rear diff. and see if it works

Good luck with it Rob. Let us know. Did you get the work done at the place out on 380 just east of McKinney, or someplace else?

Thanks Robert. Yep, had the driveshaft repaired at the place on 380.
Slapped it in this morning and topped off diff and t-case. Works just fine
I do have a leak in my t-case. Leaking around one or two of the bolts towards the top of the t-case (above the fill port). Since the leak is above the level of the fluid when the truck is parked, I haven't seen it marks it's territory. Wiped everything down, took a spin around the block and upon inspection after that, saw the fluid. Tightened things up and am letting it sit for a while and try again.

When the breakdown occurred, I was less than 10 miles from the camping spot. Dragged the trailer up there carefully, unhooked and took truck back home Thursday night. Used Billie's car to get back from Fri-Sun and had a friend drag me back to storage on Sunday.
Also, I left the slip yoke installed in the output of the t-case, didn't have any leakage
