Can anyone tell me the normal operation of the lift pump, I am looking for when it is supposed to come on at start up? With key on or with bump and how long.

 

If you bump the starter but not start the truck you will hear the LP kick on for about 25 seconds.

 

When you first turn the key on the lift pump will run for a couple of seconds, then when you start the truck it will be running fuel time. If you bump the starter without starting the engine the lift pump should run for approx. 30 seconds.

 

pacecar is correct on the bump feature.The key on varies with different software #s but on avg about 3-5 seconds.

so if I just turn the key on it won't run? I am just trying to figure out if it is going out I seem to remember it coming on with the key on

if you really want to know if it's going out, spend the $50 on a low pressure light. It was really worth it to me. A very good price for peace of mind.
