DEAD SPOT IN THE THROTTLE...
Re:DEAD SPOT IN THE THROTTLE...
Phox,<br>I think his VP44 is OK, from his post, it seemed it was just the lift pump.<br><br>As far as the EZ goes, it should not hurt anything except maybe your emissions. In fact, most of the things we do to these engines don't hurt anything, except maybe increase the engine wear a little. :
I guess I should qualify that by saying that some of the VP44s were junk to begin with, and the fuel system in general was designed too restrictive for high performance applications.<br>But the dealer wants to get out of warranty claims in any way it can. All in the name of the almighty buck.

Re:DEAD SPOT IN THE THROTTLE...
Stamey is right the fuel system seems to be junk. I have replaced the sending unit, the lift pump and the vp 44, not much left except the lines and maybe a relay or two and the injectors and tubes. Maybe the wife will buy the line that everything else in the system has gone bad maybe I should replace the injectors before we are stranded and I just happen to know a place to get them for a good price.
Re:DEAD SPOT IN THE THROTTLE...
not to open a can of worms here, but i very rarely here of a PSD having pump issues, do they have a better design or better pump?...my buddy has a 99' and never had any fuel system prob's...had some other issues don't get me wrong but nothing w/ pumps etc..
Re:DEAD SPOT IN THE THROTTLE...
I have a 99 4x4, We bought it used. When we bought it the mpg read out said 32 im like holy cow. My gasser gets 12 haha Then we did it long hand, came out to 26, gee im so reliefed...... ITs dropped to about 19 or so and some other things dont work quite the same. Use to be when it shifted into OD the *** would sink and it would just take off. But other than normal wear no problems with the systems or anything.
Re:DEAD SPOT IN THE THROTTLE...
Now that i had a lift pump failure i am interested in putting on a pusher pump also. I was wondering what kind of pumps you guys are using and maybe some pics and info about it.

SilverRam,<br>The complete, sorted story about my replacement lift pump. ;D<br>http://www.Stamey.nu/Truck/FuelPump.htm<br><br>No, I did not go the pusher way, perhaps because of this: https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...=15586;start=0<br><br>Chris
Re:DEAD SPOT IN THE THROTTLE...
its amazing someone with the exact problem i have,my truck is going in to the dealer this week too, code 0216 was set in my computer and no check engine light on,my truck when going 55-60 it would fall on its face like it had a apps bad but as soon as you leave off the throttle and get back on it it would go again,my lift pump was bad around 4 months ago and had 0 preasure so i am sure that is why my injector pump is bad now,i have 14 psi of fuel preasure,so i would lean more towards the injector pump, hope i helped, mike
