The final option is a Detriot Truetrac. This is a clutchless helical limited slip differential. Randy's has them in stock. This is a torque biasing diff, though-- it cannot transmit tq to one wheel when the other has ZERO traction (zero times anything is zero).
This is true, but appling a little e-brake will give the tire in the air enough 'traction' to the differential which will bias the torque to the tire with some real traction still on the ground.
I really liked my Truetrac I had in the rear of my Scout II, but the Dana 44 proved to be a bit small for the 392 gasser I swapped into it. I busted 3 rear ends before swapping in a Dana 60 with a Power lock.
