Dana 70 or 80?

Would anyone know if there could be a Dana 80 in an '01 2500. I'm trying to buy a Detroit locker from a guy, and I'm sure I have a 70. He claims his is an 80? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

FYI I believe that the only difference between the two differentials is that the bolt pattern on the 80 is slightly larger in diameter. If it's a good enough deal and you have the talent it could probably be used. The important thing would be to make sure that the diameter of the shoulder on the locker is the same as the interior diameter of your ring gear. That shoulder is what would keep the ring gear concentric for a good installation.
