Does anybody know this? i don't want to pay twice as much at the *********** but my Cummins dealer won't do anything without a part number. Is there a source I can go to to look up these numbers?????

 

I sure wish someone could help me with this. The dealer wants $409.00 plus tax! I really don't want to pay that much. Please help......

 

Have you tried a cummins dealer?<br> I dont know much but I would stay away from the dealership as much as possible.

The APPS can't be bought from Cummins. Must come from dealer. You could make up a business name and get a 25% discount. It's still pretty high for what you get. One for a Detriot diesel is about $60. Good luck, Kenny N4YYX

 

The part number in the tech facts section is not for the part I need. I tried that and that part is only like $49.00 from Cummins. Oh well, I guess I will just live with the quick shifts from the trans.......

Thanks Jetson. I already have that part number. It's the $409.00 piece. I'm not gonna spend that kind of cash unless I know for sure it is bad. I guess I could let the dealer check the truck for any codes. That's what they suggested anyways. I just hate letting anybody touch my vehicles.....

 

why do you think your apps is bad??whats it doing?

 

Barracuda, the trans shifts through the gears very quickly. If I adjust the TV cable, which controls the trans shift points by how much throttle you are giving it, the shifts get better but then I have really harsh downshifts when I come to a stop. There is really no good adjustment I can make where everything shifts fine. Everything I've read and heard points to the APPS or something internal in the trans . I'm going to flush the trans and put a new filter in it. Maybe someone put the wrong fluid in it before I owned it. I don't want to tear into the trans and spend a fortune just to still have the same problem.

 

thanks..im having prob's w/ my trans locking and unlocking at highway speeds and thought it was my apps too.i reset it and it helped a little..found a TSB 18-02-99..im hoping this fixes it!
