Cummins "fleet only" LP on ebay

Just saw this listed on ebay, its the Cummins lift pump #4090046. These were supposed to be sold to people repairing busses or emergency vehicles with 24v engines. I won one last week on ebay, so they do show up from time to time.

you can still get them at any Truck parts centre. I bought 3 last week from a Freighterline parts centre. I got lucky cause the Cummins rep was there and said Cummins Canada had lots left in there warehouse. Not sure how Cummins US is doing with them. I bought mine for $87CDN

I got ripped off! I just opened the package and found a USED stock Carter 4932707 LP. This thing is just dripping with diesel. He did not send me the 4040046 shown in the picture in his auction. The auction above is not him, but he has another one of these up on ebay so I would stay clear of him. So far he hasnt answered my email for restitution. So my question is, who is the manufacturer on the 4090046? And what color is it?

Sounds like this guy works for Cummins or some large repair facility. His ad says "my facility is replacing a large amount of these pumps" I am guessing he is cleaning the ones he removes and selling them on ebay. He did respond and told me he will refund my money. He claims the picture of the 4090046 is an old one and that he didnt expect me to see the number on the box. I will try Cummins Metropower to see if I can score one from them.

Just found some good info on hoeslidiesel.com

Cummins Service/Parts Topics

New Fuel Lift Pump

Fuel System-Bosch VP44-ISB

Market Application-All

This Service/Parts Topic announces the release of new fuel lift pumps for ISB and QSB VP44 series engines.

The new fuel lift pumps, Part Numbers 4932707(12 VDC) and Part Number 4932708(24 VDC), obsolete and supercede the previous fuel lift pumps (Part Numbers 3990105 and 3990106). The new fuel lift pumps have an internal bypass circuit in the rotor housing that allows fuel to be drawn, with less restriction, from the fuel tank to the injection pump in the event of an inoperable fuel lift pump.

There are no visual differences between the new fuel lift pumps and the old fuel lift pumps. The new fuel lift pumps can only be identified by part number.

Fuel Lift Pumps

Voltage New Lift Pump Part Number Old Lift Pump Part Number

12 VDC 4932707 3990105

24 VDC 4932706 3990106

I think 4090046 is the complete replacement kit from cummins (including the low fuel light), not just the lift pump.

Very interesting, Shovelhead. The pump I got has 4932707 on the box, maybe this guy is somewhat legit. I just hope it doesnt poop the bed after I go through the trouble of installing it.

Yes, the 4090046 is a kit, but does it have the 'bypass' pump discussed earlier?

Should be picking up a 4090046 today at a local truck shop,
$90 plus some shipping (since I didn't want to wait until
his normal truck run on Monday, thanks DieselDude!).

The 4090046 pump kit does have the new lift pump with the bypass.
